Rovio’s Battle Bay recently revealed that there’s an appetite for high seas swashbuckling among the list of growing mobile online shooter market.
If you’d like something a bit more serious, tactical, and historically appear from your naval skirmishes however, World of Warships Blitz Cheats could be for you.
Having just inserted soft unveiling in the Philippines, I thought I’d put the game through its paces.
The name may have tipped you off, but World of Warships Blitz Hack is from the same team that brought you Expression of Tanks Blitz. Exactly like that game, it started its life from PC before directing its prow towards mobile-land.
Essentially, the game boils right down to shooting real life opponents and wanting to record the other team’s place by sailing to their flag area. It’s just that you’re doing so with hulking multi-tonne battleships with the turning circles of, well, battleships.
As with its forerunner, World of Warships Blitz Cheats isn’t your average run-and-gun action game. There’s a genuine sense of weight to its battle. It seems satisfyingly mechanical.
Every move you make here needs to be prepared and thought through. The fact you are piloting huge ships means that it takes some time to get right up to speed and, crucially, flip. Aiming needs to be done slowly and delicately, lest you get away from the targeting reticule.
Thar she blows
The huge distance you employ your targets at plays a part too. You need to skilfully lead your pictures when interesting a moving focus on, while getting the powerful torpedo on target (for the boats which may have them) requires a dangerous combination of being both close up and side-on to your target.
That isn’t even considering the need to put out deck fires (there’s location-based damage here) and distribute repair crews to patch yourself up mid-fight.
Basically, challenge in World of Warships Blitz is difficult. Once I shifted free from the tutorial fights and into online battles against real players, I required repeated poundings from patient, wily competitors.
You should thing your steps through – charging directly into the fray without back-up is a sure-fire way to get blown from the water.
I have no doubt that World of Warships Blitz is going to be a massive hit with a sub-sector of players, in the same way it will alienate those after an instant blast.
I’m less certain the way the game’s freemium composition will pan out. I found the system for purchasing new boats to be a little opaque to say minimal, and it remains to be seen how much of an advantage splashing out real money on the fancier models will give you.
Given the demanding and tactical aspect of the battle, though – not to mention the developer’s pedigree – I’m comfortable that World of Warships Blitz will be an interesting skill-based multiplayer game when it finally strikes the App Store proper.
